Brooklyn's Story

Welcome to a space that celebrates the beautiful life and boundless spirit of Brooklyn McKenna Fredericks. A little girl whose light continues to inspire everyone who knew her.
Here, you’ll find glimpses of her joy and the love she shared so freely with the world. May her story remind us all to live with more kindness, wonder, joy, and love each day, just as she did.

A Light That Shines Forever

Brooklyn McKenna Fredericks was pure light;  joyful, curious, compassionate, and full of wonder for the world around her. From the moment she arrived, she made every day brighter with her laughter, her hugs, and her boundless love for life.

Born in Alexandria Virginia on June 11, 2022, Brooklyn grew up surrounded by family, friends, and her best four-legged buddy, Macie. The two were inseparable; sharing wagon rides, cuddles, and countless adventures together.

Brooklyn adored animals, and her gentle heart showed in how she cared for them, often tucking Macie in with blankets or mimicking her every move.

Adventures Big and Small

She loved the outdoors — playgrounds, slides, swings, water tables, and collecting rocks were among her favorite adventures. She thrived in sunshine, splashing through water, chasing bubbles, and exploring nature with wide-eyed excitement.

Inside, she turned every corner into play: building forts, coloring masterpieces with dot markers and stickers, “writing emails” on her pink laptop, and caring for her beloved doll, Baby, as tenderly as she was cared for.

Her imagination never slowed down. Whether ringing up groceries at her tiny toy store, dancing in her play tunnel, or practicing yoga poses with a grin, Brooklyn lived every moment fully.

A Girl Who Loved Life

Brooklyn traveled far and wide.  She visited 14 states, over 65 cities, and 6 National Parks.

She got to experience and see the Grand Canyon, the Smoky Mountains (and bears there!), and Arches National Park. She hiked a stretch of the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park. She rode horses, made s’mores, and even hung out with real cowboys at the Grand Canyon.

Brooklyn’s joy was contagious.

She loved waving at the trash truck each week and giggling as the workers waved back. Lighting up at the sight of Christmas lights with her eyes wide with awe and wonder.

A Move to the Mountains

In early January of 2025, Brooklyn and her family began a new chapter, moving from Virginia to Fort Collins, Colorado. She embraced the mountains and open skies with the same spirit she brought to everything; curious, and full of joy and love.

Brooklyn joined KidStrong gym classes, which boosted her confidence, and truly changed her. It was monumental in encouraging her to explore, challenge herself, and celebrate what her little body and courageous spirit could do.

Whether hiking up trails on the Rocky Mountain Range, or spotting wildlife, Brooklyn found beauty everywhere she went.

A Legacy of Love

Brooklyn’s presence was and still is transformative. She had a way of unlocking joy and kindness in everyone she met. Her laughter filled rooms and her light continues to shine through the love she inspired.

Brooklyn taught everyone around her what really matters: to love harder, be present, slow down, and find beauty in the little things.

In March of 2025, Brooklyn tragically and unexpectedly passed away, leaving an indescribable void in the hearts of all who loved her. In the months that followed, her family returned home to Virginia to be surrounded by the love and support of their family and friends. This community continues to help them honor and carry her light forward.

Her time with us was short, but her spirit continues to shine.  You'll find her in the sunlight, the laughter of children, the love of animals, the music that moves us, and the small, beautiful moments of everyday life.

She is forever a part of everything.
